If you have been manipulated all your life in the work place, maybe it is time that you should be in control and impress your boss. Take these simple tips on how to act like you are in control. Do not worry; these tips are subtle yet powerful gestures that anybody can practice. This can be applied to be more influential, maintain charisma, impress the boss, and achieve your goals.

This next tip might be simple but it is very powerful. My tip is to initiate every handshake. It sends subtle signs that you decide when the interaction starts and ends. Make it strong and short. Never squeeze when handshaking.

Stand closer to your boss when talking, this is my next tip. If the boss tends to stand three feet away from you when talking, maybe take a half step closer. This might feel awkward but here is a trick to maintain your comfort level: hold a pen or your glasses in front of you. This serves as a barrier that shields you from his intimidation. Notice how he will feel awkward after interacting with you. But trust me; he will not know why he feels that way. It is because you had been in control using a simple gesture.

If your boss is a man, try this risky approach of touching him. But handle this with care. Of course, you cannot do this with a female boss. Try to put your hands on his shoulder when driving a point. If you are making a point while touching him, this gesture screams, "You need to report to me, big guy."
